Gerard Batten - MEP
Gerard Batten was a founder member of the UK Independent Party in September 1993. He was the Party's European Election Organiser in 1994, and the first Party Secretary 1994 to 1997. He has served on UKIP's National Executive Committee at different times, and in January 2010 UKIP's Leader. Lord Pearson of Rannoch appointed him the Party Spokesman on Justice and Home Affairs, Immigration and Islamism.

Gerard Batten won a seat in the European Parliament in June 2004 and from 2004 to 2009 he was a member of the Parliament’s Security and Defence Committee. He won a second five year term in June 2009 and is now a member of the Parliament’s Justice, Home Affairs and Civil Liberties Committee.
